Polaris Wishes the Woodland Trust a Very Happy 50th Birthday

Polaris is pleased to extend our warm congratulations to the Woodland Trust on their 50th birthday. Through our parent company Design Group UK, Polaris supports the vital work of the Woodland Trust, helping to stand up for woods, trees and wildlife across the UK.

Design Group UK has been a partner with The Woodland Trust since 2018, participating in a fully accredited carbon removal scheme that operates under the UK Government’s Woodland Carbon Code.

IG Design Group UK to date has funded 112,266M2 of new native woodland in the UK, offsetting over 4160 tonnes. We are proud to be responsibly reducing our net CO2 emissions and so actively support a sustainable future in line with our Environmental and Sustainability policy.

To mark the 50th birthday and recognise our continued support, the Woodland Trust’s CEO Dr Darren Moorcroft wrote a letter to Design Group.

In it, he wrote “For 50 years we’ve been standing up for woods, trees and wildlife. I’d like to extend our thanks for your continued support and invite you to celebrate this milestone with us this October as the Woodland Trust turns 50 golden years old.

“And how we’ve grown! From one man’s vision and a small wood in Devon to the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity, with over 1,000 woods and 30,000 hectares across the UK, free to visit anytime. Over 55 million trees have been planted and 85,000 acres of damaged woodland restored. We are now a 500,000-strong force of members, supporters and volunteers. We save, restore and create habitat for some of the UK’s most threatened wildlife. We’ve fought for greater protection for trees and woods, saving urban street trees, and ancient woods. We have celebrated our first mountain Ben Shieldaig, and we created the first Young People’s Forest at Mead in Derbyshire.

“We couldn’t have achieved all of this without your support. Thank you.”
